A sustainably minded fashion story that explores the idea of rediscovery.

The story contrasts timeless, structured silhouettes with raw, untamed settings to reflect themes of reclaimed beauty, preservation, and reinvention. The aim was to show how older or archived fashion can feel entirely new when recontextualized with intention.

Worn by Time, Found Again

Words by Lara Pattinson

Worn by Time, Found Again is a sustainably minded fashion story that explores the idea of rediscovery—finding beauty in what already exists. Rooted in the concept of giving garments a second life, this campaign reimagines pre-loved pieces in natural landscapes, drawing a visual parallel between fashion’s cyclical nature and the organic renewal we see in the wild.

The story contrasts timeless, structured silhouettes with raw, untamed settings to reflect themes of reclaimed beauty, preservation, and reinvention. The aim was to show how older or archived fashion can feel entirely new when recontextualized with intention.

While I led the photography and direction on shoot day, I’d also like to acknowledge Brandon Bolland’s creative input in the early planning stages. Though he wasn’t present on the day, his styling insights helped shape the foundation of the story.

Shot across a muted British landscape under soft overcast skies, the editorial was influenced by the aesthetic and ethos of Zara’s archived and sustainable collections. We embraced relaxed tailoring, layered silhouettes, and distressed details—combining streetwear ease with editorial edge. The color palette—rich in earthy neutrals and washed-out tones—evokes garments that feel worn-in and lived-in, yet elevated.

Sustainability guided not just the styling, but also the shoot process:
– Reusing and styling existing pieces in innovative ways
– Scouting a single natural location that allowed us to shoot efficiently with minimal environmental disruption
– Embracing natural light, adjusting with minimal kit when the weather shifted unexpectedly

A last-minute cancellation from our makeup artist challenged us to simplify even further, resulting in bare-faced, minimal looks that aligned beautifully with the shoot’s message: raw, authentic, and unfabricated beauty.

Each frame captures the tension between stillness and motion, structure and softness, past and present. There’s a cinematic, weather-worn elegance throughout—sharp silhouettes framed by foggy woods, concrete textures, or soft reflections in water.

This project reflects my personal ethos as a photographer: that fashion storytelling doesn’t require excess or newness—it’s about revisiting, reimagining, and finding soul in what already exists. The beauty is already there—we just need to frame it differently.
