Hunting around for a new fashion show to attend can be a tricky business in Manchester. We ask why this is so hard to find regular shows to attend.

Go outside of London in the UK and one place stands head and shoulders above others for fashion- Manchester.
A city built on creativity and expression, through arts, music, film and now fashion, the northern city would be well placed for thriving shows and catwalks galore.
This however doesn’t seem quite right. Searching today for upcoming fashion shows in the near future brings up a frustrating lack of results. But why?

Naturally London takes centre stage for fashion events and shows, as you would expect from the capital and one of fashions pioneering cities.
But with so much creativity going on outside too there is an element of frustration that comes when thinking of Manchester and all of the creatives involved up here, and the lack of presentation of this.
As a creative myself I am constantly looking to feed my creative buzz with shows and events. Not only are they a great networking opportunity (something so vital in the industry) but I regularly feel the need to see new designs and models walking down a runway.

There are a few opportunities for shows to attend. Graduate shows offer an annual opportunity to go see the work of new emerging designers, and Manchester Fashion Week returned in 2025 under new ownership.
Unfortunately events like these seem to be too far and few between.
For now it seems that in order to get our regular fix of a model, a runway and music we will have to keep venturing down to London…if our wallets can take it.
