The move away from fast fashion and the quick, over consumption of clothing has become more of a push, particularly within the designers creating the collections. One designer doing such is Manchester based YuanyuanSun. Here in her own words she gives a short insight into why she chooses to create in the process that she does.

YuanyuanSun, Designer

My experience working in fast fashion exposed me to large quantities of low-priced sample garments that were quickly produced and easily discarded, revealing how clothing has shifted from a carrier of identity into a disposable commodity while placing pressure on the environment.

The designer is based in Manchester, England

Through deconstruction and reconstruction, I transform discarded fabrics and old garments into new forms. This process becomes a slow and intentional act that resists mass-production speed and reflects my personal observations of living within a consumption-driven society.

I believe that anything created with love — whether a garment or any object — carries a soul. Fashion, therefore, is not merely a product to be consumed, but an attitude of care, responsibility, and self-reflection.

“…anything created with love…carries a soul.”
