Out on a quiet stretch of Bali’s rugged coastline, photographer Magdalena makes the most of the golden hour sun—capturing model Jessica Marques, with sun-soaked skin, bikinis and golden jewellery. Teaming up the two set out for August’s cover feature with nothing but a few bikinis, a camera, and that unmistakable Bali magic.

With the beach empty and the sun setting, Jessica switched between a baby blue bikini against the textured rock cliffs, a creamy ivory number and a woven bandeau paired with soft, rope-tied bottoms as she slipped into shallow tide pools. Each look seemed to fit perfectly into the scene, as if the landscape had been waiting just for her.

Magdalena, a regular on these shores, knows how to capture the relationship between the model and the beach. The photographer, used to working with and photographing beauty, mixes between the rocky background and the beautiful green and blues of the ocean.
Choosing this time to photograph means the sun doesn’t stay for too long at the soft golden light, so Magdalena couldn’t hang about but with her beach experience she used the time wisely with Jessica and created some breathtaking imagery.

By the time the last sliver of sun dipped into the horizon, the pair had caught it all—the drama of shadow and stone, the glisten of sea-kissed skin.
